Inland Empire Legal Aid is seeking two Community Needs Outreach Volunteers to help us better understand the legal needs of the communities we serve. This volunteer will engage directly with community members and partner organizations to gather meaningful data on barriers to legal services, unmet legal needs, and opportunities for expanded outreach. The information collected will directly inform program development, clinic placement, and service delivery across IELA’s legal programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach at community events, legal clinics, libraries, shelters, schools, and partner organizations
   

• Engage community members in respectful, trauma-informed conversations about legal needs and access to services
   

• Administer surveys, collect informal feedback, and document trends and recurring issues
   

• Identify gaps in services and emerging legal needs (e.g., family law, housing, consumer, wills/estates)
   

• Compile and summarize outreach findings for IELA staff and leadership
   

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
   

• Comfort engaging with diverse and underserved populations
   

• Interest in access to justice, community advocacy, or public service
   

• Organized, reliable, and able to document information clearly
   

• Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus, but not required
   

• No legal experience required; training and support provided
